Liquid extracts of marine brown algae are marketed for use in agriculture and horticulture. Many of these extracts are prepared from dried some species of Ascophyllum Nodosum, Fucus Serratus and Laminaria meals. These are prepared from either cold or hot water extracts of either the dried or wet seaweed, sometimes with the addition of sodium carbonate to aid extraction. All following products contains seaweed extract derived from Ascophyllum Nodosum promoted by Free L-Amino Acids and rich amount of sub materials immediately changed to plant regulatory substances and phyto hormones (auxin, cytokinin and gibberellin). There accelerate growth and increase plant resistant against situations full of tension and stress. Seaweed extract also contain a sufficient amount of oceanic bio-active substance such as phycocolloid, mannitol, oligose, polyphenol, trehalase, cytokinin, betaine, lignin etc., which are essential and vital for germination improvement, root development, leaf quality, general plant vigor and resistance to biotic pathogens.
Liquid seaweed extracts are used at very high dilution rates which results in only very small quantities of material being applied to a given area. The active substances in the seaweed extracts must therefore be capable of having an effect at a low concentration. All products fortified by essential macro and micro nutrients totally chelated as EDTA or complexed by sugar or organic acids. Trace elements have been suggested as likely active constituents.
